Common configuration of rotary evaporator

The rotary evaporator is an evaporation instrument that is widely used in laboratories. It is suitable for reflux operation, rapid evaporation of large amounts of solvents, concentration of trace components, and reaction processes that require stirring.

Tips for use of common configurations of vacuum rotary evaporator:

1. Pressure-reducing equipment

Usually configured as a water pump. For some solvents with high boiling points, the water pump can be replaced by an oil pump. Pay attention to the requirements of the equipment when replacing.

2. Heating water bath

The general heating medium is water. If there are special needs for temperature, it can be replaced with silicone oil or high-temperature silicone oil. There will be a cover on the water bath, which is not used frequently during use, but when not in operation, it can prevent dust from entering the water bath or oil bath and keep them clean.

3. Condenser

The general cooling medium is water. If the ambient temperature is high and the condensation effect is not good, it can be replaced with an ethanol bath and the device is equipped with a circulating refrigerator. Press the cooled ethanol into the condenser for cooling. In extremely cold weather and when not in use, the water in the condenser needs to be drained overnight to prevent the water from solidifying and expanding in volume to crack the condenser.

rotary distiller evaporator

The working principle of laboratory rotary evaporator is distillation under reduced pressure. In other words, under reduced pressure, when the solvent is distilled, the distillation flask is constantly rotating. It is mainly used for concentration, crystallization, drying, separation and solvent recovery in pharmaceutical, chemical and biopharmaceutical industries.
