Rotary evaporator speed and evaporation time

Rotary evaporator is a device for rapid concentration of liquid samples, and is mainly used for concentration, crystallization, drying, separation and solvent recovery in the pharmaceutical, chemical and biopharmaceutical industries. The evaporation effect of the rotary evaporator is not only affected by factors such as the type of rotary evaporator, evaporation method, evaporation medium and density gradient, but also by the speed and evaporation time.

I. Evaporation time of vacuum rotary evaporator

The evaporation time varies according to the evaporation method. For differential evaporation, it refers to the time for a certain particle to completely settle to the bottom of the evaporation tube. For isopycnic gradient evaporation, the evaporation time refers to the equilibrium time for the particles to completely reach the isopycnic point. The time required for density gradient evaporation refers to the time for the formation of a clearly defined zone. The influencing factors of the zone formation time or equilibrium time required for density gradient evaporation and isopycnic gradient evaporation are very complex and can be determined through experiments.

II. Rotation speed of lab rotary evaporator

The magnitude of evaporation acceleration depends on the rotation speed of the rotor and the rotation radius of the particles. When describing evaporation conditions, relative evaporation force field is often used to express it. In actual work, the data of evaporation force field refers to its average value. That is, it refers to the evaporation force field that the particles are subjected to at the midpoint of the evaporating solution.
