When using the rotary evaporator for purification, if you encounter problems such as slow distillation speed and low recovery rate, it may be a vacuum system failure. We need to troubleshoot the entire vacuum system.
The enclosed space of the vacuum rotary evaporator is composed of glass components such as the evaporating flask, evaporating tube, condenser, vacuum sealing ring, vacuum buffer bottle, vacuum pump and vacuum pipeline. Among them, the key factors that affect the system vacuum are the vacuum pump, sealing ring and vacuum pipeline.
We need to check the following lab rotary evaporator components one by one:
1. Check whether the glass ports are damaged and whether the port connections are leaking. If damaged, please replace them in time. If there is leakage, you can improve it by applying vacuum silicone grease or replacing the sealing ring at the connection;
2. Check whether the sealing ring is aged and worn. If so, please replace it in time;
3. Check whether there are debris on the surface and internal groove of the sealing ring. If there are debris, first clean it with a soft brush and ear cleaning bulb, and then wipe the sealing ring carefully with a paper towel or wet cloth dipped in low-concentration ethanol;
4. Check whether the glass components and vacuum pipelines are damaged or aged. If so, please replace them in time;
5. Check whether the vacuum pump can work normally. If there is any abnormality, please repair it in time;
6. Check whether the connection of the vacuum control system is correct.
